This is my first of hopefully many giveaways that I will host on my blog. It will go from now through Sunday, September 6.  I will use Random.org to select the winner, and will announce the winner on Monday morning.

Several years ago my family and I went to Thailand for 2 weeks to visit and travel with friends of ours who were living there at the time. (Remember the Tsunami? We were in Thailand at that time, and were headed to Phuket when the Tsunami hit. We missed it by 2 hours. That’s a whole ‘nuther post, though…. back to the giveaway now).

While we were in Thailand, I managed to squeeze in one of my favorite activities… Shopping! I bought all kinds of of treasures, including jewelry (some of it is listed on my website, and much of it isn’t listed because I have been too lazy busy. This necklace is one that I never listed, and I only have one like it.

The necklace was made by the ladies of the Akha Tribe of Northern Thailand. You can see them below, in full head gear, bombarding us with jewelry. The jewelry was gorgeous, so we really didn’t mind!

This is a 10-strand, 28 inch long necklace. The beads are turquoise and orange, and there is a silver pendant at the end. This is one of those times when a picture is worth a thousand words, because my description does not do this beauty justice… so do look at the picture! It is worth about $30 (actually more if you have to fly there to get it, but $30 is my best guess.)

Isn’t it gorgeous? It’s personalized with my initial. I love the colors and the flower. She even decorated the spiral binding!
